My 25 year journey started at age 16 in a wooden boat yard in St. Paul, MN. I scraped bottoms, salvaged hardware and cut up the graveyard of decaying abandoned boats. Eventually, I was trusted with painting and prep for re caulking plank on frame seams and other below the waterline work. The yard was comprised of 3 old salts dripping with wisdom and knowledge. That was all I needed to put me on a path in pursuit of traditional craft. I have dedicated my professional career to studying and practicing the art form of designing with and implementing traditional materials. I have never questioned the extra time required to make a functional exterior wood product endure for 80 years or more. The “why” has just always made sense to me. Over the last 15 years, my interests have evolved heavily towards classical architecture and historic buildings. When you work with us, you are engaging in a partnership with an experienced craftsperson that respects the proportions and balance of the design just as much as crafting really durable millwork in a market with waning skills and long term value.
